What are my chances of getting into the PSI program?
- We are unable to tell you via email what your chances are of being accepted into the Perimeter Scholars International program. We recieve many qualified applicants every year and until our applications committee has reviewed all of the files we are unable to provide you with this information.
What do I need to score on my TOEFL for entrance into PSI?
- The minimum score required is 90 overall, with a minimum of 25 in writing and speaking.
What if my TOEFL results are not available when the applications close on February 1st?
- If your TOEFL scores are not available before our submission deadline we will accept late mailings of your TOEFL results only.
I currently attend an Institution where the language of instruction is English, do I still need to provide a TOEFL score?
- The University of Waterloo requires a TOEFL score unless you have attended one of the International Universities that they recognize as exempt from the English language proficiency requirement. A list of countries exempt from the English Language Proficiency requirement can be found here. A list of International Universities that are exempt from the English Language Proficiency requirement can be found here. All others must provide us with a TOEFL score.
Can I provide you with a language exam other than the TOEFL for proof of English language proficiency?
- The University of Waterloo recognizes the following exams in addition to the TOEFL.
Do you require GRE results for admission to PSI?
- The GRE is not required for admission to PSI, but if you upload your results we will take them into consideration when reviewing your application.
How long should my Personal Statement be?
- There is no minimum or maximum length required of your personal statement. We do, however, recommend that it be 2-3 pages in length. If your personal statement is longer, that is acceptable, just keep in mind that the committee members have to read a large number of applications.
Will I get Scholarship funding?
- All successful applicants to the PSI program do receive the full scholarship described on our website. You are also encouraged and expected to seek out and apply for other scholarship funding in your home country for which you are eligible.
What if I already have an M.Sc. degree from another University?
- Applicants who have already completed an M.Sc. will still be considered for the PSI program.
Can I send you a copy of my transcripts directly?
- Your Official Final Transcript must be received directly from the issuing institution in sealed, signed or stamped envelopes.
What documents are required to be mailed in hard copy form to you?
- We only require that you mail us paper copies of your Official Final Transcript and your TOEFL score. All other documentation can be uploaded to your application.
How many Reference Letters can I submit?
- It is mandatory that you provide us with 3 letters of reference, however there is space available on your application for a fourth reference if you so choose to provide us with it.
